It’s growing

Work on this blanket has been curtailed somewhat as I’ve hurt my hand. However, it is growing and I’ll be able to continue soon. While I’ve had nothing else to do I’ve also been thinking about the colour combination for the next one….. I think I’ll be adding another couple of colours – but I’m…

Scrapbusting!

Remember these? They all represent rather a lot of ends of yarn which I’ve been collecting. I had a plan, but had no idea if it would work! What can you do with a bag of indeterminate short lengths of yarn? I’ll tell you all about it in a couple of days. Links are now…

Through gritted teeth

I’ve been working on a little project in the background for a while now. I started it towards the end of October, and it should have been finished. However…… It’s another c2c blanket – this time in a single yarn. The yarn is Stylecraft Special DK and the colour is Peony. A few of  the…

Follow on Bloglovin

Follow my blog with Bloglovin It’s a bad photo but…… This is my favourite scarf, and I’ve decided to base my next throw on this collection of colours. What do you think? Next I’ll purchase the yarn – but that will have to wait a day or two. I’ll need to decide on a pattern…

Orders placed!

One of our grand-daughters is five years old. She is desperate to learn to knit – and has caught on really quickly. However, she has been watching me crochet, and although she hasn’t yet asked how to do it she has loved watching the change of colours. She often helps me choose threads to put…

A useful tip

And so…. work on the rainbow blanket begins. This time I’m weaving in the ends as I go. That, however, isn’t my useful tip! Weaving requires a blunt needle. I was too lazy to go and find one in my workbox, but I did have this one nearby from a recent spell of stitching. Although…

Including Lobelia!

Playing with a sequence to include some of the new Stylecraft colours. Second from the right is Lobelia and first on the left is Duck Egg. This is a baby sized blanket. The sequence above is noted here.

The wrong hook!

I’ve been away since I posted the last entry here, not far, just about 100 miles away from home. I met with my stitching group, it’s only the second time I’ve managed to attend this year – next year will hopefully not be so catastrophic and I’ll be able to see them every couple of…

Gratitude

I’ve been contemplating gratitude. I have so much – and am so grateful. A friend of ours has cancer. A brain tumour has been removed – now radiotherapy begins. Once that is complete they begin to treat his lung cancer. A widower, he had no family until he remarried a widow with no children. Thankfully…

Progress and a question

The one thing about a corner to corner blanket is that it does move quickly! Well, it moves quickly if you can sit and hook a few rows, that is. The last two evenings have been ideal for slowly doing a few more rows. I’ve hurt my foot! I have to rest it, don’t I?…

On we go

I managed a little longer than expected yesterday evening, so another couple of colours were added I think I’ll probably stop there as far as colours are concerned. This is what it looks like so far: I need to go and buy another ball of the yellow. I wasn’t sure if it would work –…
