Five Colour Friday

Five colour Friday is here again, and I think that I have found my most favourite red!  These colours go so well together – and would make a beautiful blanket. Simply using a simple repeated block would be stunning But don’t forget that you can make 120 different colour combinations using just these five colours….

Five Colour Friday

This granny square is a mix of yarns. I’ve chosen some by Cygnet and a few from Scheepjes. All are double knitting. Cygnet: Barley, Soft Coral and Harvest Scheepjes: Knokke and Nijmegen If you wish to indulge you can buy them all from Mrs Snufflebean. You could make a whole blanket with 120 different combinations…

First colour sequence finished

I’ve decided to count these rows slightly differently. I have no idea if this will work – it will be too late to change by the time it is finished. Here’s the first colour repeat.   I think the colours will become more apparent in the next post. I’m also wondering if I dare take…

Dyeing! I love colour. It’s been my pleasure to work with it for over 30 years. I’ve been producing a range of hand threads, fibres and fabrics since I was first introduced to the process in the late 1980s. Over the years I have developed a number of techinques to produce many mixed colours. The…

Collage I enjoy working with paper. It began as a design tool for textiles – but after discovering that it was also a useful base for stitch it has more and more become an integrated part of my work. Paper is so readily available! It doesn’t need to be expensive. The cover of this book…

Blue

Hmm. Blue is the prompt for today, and actually, I find it a difficult colour with which to work. Once I get going it isn’t too bad – as you can see from my current work in progress, but it’s the one colour that really causes me a lot of angst. I thought I’d share…

Favourite Piece

The next prompt for National Crochet Month is to show a favourite piece. I have to say that my favourite piece is always the one on which I’m working – or the one that is playing around in my head as the next one to start! So this must be my current favourite! The colours…

It’s growing

Work on this blanket has been curtailed somewhat as I’ve hurt my hand. However, it is growing and I’ll be able to continue soon. While I’ve had nothing else to do I’ve also been thinking about the colour combination for the next one….. I think I’ll be adding another couple of colours – but I’m…
