Finished and presented

I’m pleased to say that the rainbow blanket was finished in plenty of time and presented on the approriate day. Here’s a little slideshow of the finished item. Two more blankets were also needed for Christmas – both equally well received. It’s always a relief, isn’t it!

Nearly there!

Well, even though I was cross about the short weight of the yarn I have to say that the Marble Chunky is making up into a lovely fabric. Today I managed to catch it in the light of the morning sun, and this gives you a much better idea of the mix of colours. It…

Sssshhhh! Can you keep a secret?

I currently have two projects on the go. I told you about one last time, but today I’m sharing a secret. I’ve started a new project which is being produced strictly under cover! I’m grabbing moments when a certain someone is otherwise engaged – and I know that that someone has no idea about this…

And we are off again!

The start of another project is always exciting. Underneath the crochet you can see some of the hand dyed threads I’ll be offering for sale this weekend. Packaging takes a lot of time- there won’t be much blanket progress for a day or two. Did you know I am a dyer? I’ve been creating collections…

Finished

To say that I have enjoyed making this blanket is a bit of an understatement. I’ve LOVED making this. It was made using 14 different colours of acrylic yarn, I’ve listed them at the end of this post. They symbolise the journey of hope of a new life by a refugee – over sea and…

Sixty Million Trebles update.

A quick update of the blanket I’m making for the above charity project. It’s been difficult to photograph as the days have been rather dark. The picture isn’t a true representation of colours – maybe my computer needs readjusting! I’m over half way. It was meant to be a slow blanket – but I’ve enjoyed…

Charity update

I’m just back from a lovely but exhausting weekend. We stayed with our young grandchildren while their parents were away for a few days. We love them to bits – and had great fun! However, a nine and a six year old show boundless energy. Cartwheels, swingball, cricket and dancing gave continual ‘entertainment’, and a…

Do you count your stitches?

The crochet community on Instagram is enormous! Every day creations and concoctions of all kinds are posted. Some are beautiful, some, frankly, wierd, but all are made using yarn and a hook. One account interested me, though, because at a quick glance it looked as though someone had ambitiously estimated their life’s crochet work! Not…

Ups and downs

Life really has a habit of keeping one on their toes. It’s easy to be seduced into thinking that all is fine, and then to be shocked to find that it isn’t. Keeping on an even keel when things are not going to ‘plan’ isn’t easy, but thanks to my faith in the Lord Jesus…

Packages in the post

It’s always good to receive packages in the post, isn’t it? Well, I’ve had two lovely ones this week. I indulged myself! When I was a child I would often stay with my grandmother in Northumberland. It was she who taught me to crochet umpteen years ago. Her home was full of functional crocheted objects…

Will you crochet along with me?

Sadly I have had to shelve this for the time being…. See this post.   I’ve hinted at it on Instagram, and I think I mentioned it here. I also mentioned it in the Ravelry Group, and now I’m going to make it official! Yes, I am going to host a Crochetalong! It will be…

A disappointment

Published earlier on Creating something every day where it can be seen in its entirety. It serves me right. I tried to cut a corner! I need a crochet blanket quickly. It must be bright and cheerful, so, rather than spend time dyeing one I chose a bright and cheeerful combination that I have seen…
